Abstract


This research was conducted to hone students’ ability in analyzing, critiquing and relate the concepts learned in school using graphic organizer in handouts Biology so that students gain a depth understanding of the concept that they learned and applying  their knowledge to solve problems in daily life.  The method of this research is quasi experiment.  The research design was a pretest-posttest control group design with engineering data collection using observation, tests and question form.  Results of the study showed learning activities students class experiments are better than the control class, critical thinking grade experiment and control increases, the average N-experimental class of 0.43 Gain and an average N-Gain of class control  is 0.31. The results of statistical tests produces the sig. 0.000 0.05, meaning  Ho denied and Ha was accepted; student response, and against the use of graphic organizer in Biology handouts are included in the criteria is very strong. The conclusion from this study is:  there is an increasing difference significant between students’ critical thinking class experiment and control, learning activities of students in classroom experiments so much better from the control class, students gave positive response towards the use of graphic organizer in handouts biology.
