Abstract

A textbook is the main source in the teaching and learning process because schools still lack of facilities to access online sources. Hence, the aim of this research was to investigate the teachers’ consideration in selecting qualified English textbook based on profile, content, and appropriateness with the curriculum. Four teachers from MTsN and MAN in Cirebon were recruited as participants in this research. The method of the research was descriptive qualitative. Interview and analyzing document were used to collect the data. The result of the research shows that the teachers have positive consideration in selecting textbook at school. They consider the students’ needs, the appropriateness of the content with religion, culture, environment, and KI and KD in the syllabus. It means that the existence of textbook at school is still needed and depends on the teachers’ ability in selecting which is suitable with students’ needs.
